I'm Sorry I Love You

His name was Levi. He was an eighteen year-old boy who had just given up his life for someone who would never love him back. The old wooden beach creaked under his weight. God that cell was terrible. I was small and dirty; he even saw a rat or two in there. The air reacted of sweet and blood. But it did not matter, where Levi was from all murderers got death. There was no trial, no judge, and Levi had no say in it. It didn’t matter. He loved her. He always did, and always will.
Levis earliest memories consisted of him and Leonor, a childhood friend. He fell for her as soon as he saw her. Her long brown hair feel just beyond her shoulders, and her eyes always shimmered in the sunlight. Levi would do anything for her. He would take her places and was always there when she needed him.  She was always happy; nothing troubled her, that is, until she met him.
Prince Arthur was perfect. He had blonde hair, blue eyes; he was tall and had a lot of money. He too fell for Leonor. Arthur would take her to exotic places and buy her the finest of jewelry, anything Leonor wanted she would get. Levi could never do any of that. By next summer they got married. Levi thought Leonor was happy and was willing to sacrifice his happiness for her. On the surface everything was perfect but within everything was wrong.
All he knew was that Leonor was sad. All he got from her were hours upon hours of tear filled phone calls. Frustrated, he showed up unexpectedly to her home. He could not believe his eyes. Her once pale skin was now purple, covered in bruises. Furious Levi wanted to tell the authorities immediately, but she made him promise not to. As he left he still thought of uncovering Prince Arthur’s crime. However, he had made a promise to Leonor, he couldn’t lie to her. He loved her too much.
Months and days passed painfully and slowly. One night, Levi got a phone call that would change his life forever. It was Leonor crying and sobbing, he could not understand her at all, so Levi decided to leave and see what was wrong.
She claimed it had been an accident. Arthur was upset and so was she. She had only pushed him and he had hit his head on the corner of the wooden counter. Now Arthur was lying in a puddle of blood.  He didn’t know what to do. Levi just stood there in shock. He knew it wouldn’t be long before the authorities came.
Levi hid Leonor, despite her resisting. He told her not to come out, he would fix everything. From Arthur’s corpse he wiped blood all over his face and clothes. He was now the murderer. Levi let the authorities see him. Then he ran. He ran hopelessly knowing he would be caught.
Levi lost track of the authorities. He made his way over to a public phone. He knew the authorities were close but if only he could hear her voice once more, he would be happy.
“Hello?”
Now he was in this dirty jail cell. The murder of Prince Arthur was one of the most gruesome and shocking event that had happened in his village. His death would be televised. As he approached his death, he was offered a few words. He looked straight at the cameras. He knew she would be watching.

“I’m so sorry, girl. I love you. I just can’t lie.”
